Public Printer of the United States, Augustus Giegengack, owned this house in 1941. He was the printer for Stars and Stripes during World War I and ran a successful networking campaign to become head of the Government Printing Office (GPO) when President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected. The GPO is an agency of the federal government responsible for printing documents for the U.S. Supreme Court, Congress, and the Executive Department including the President of the United States. Public.resource.org founder, Carl Malamud, called Giegengack, "The greatest public printer since Ben Franklin." Public.resource.org works for the publication of information from local, state, and federal government.
