William Vanderpool (Van) Hilleary, a former congressman from Tennessee, owned this rowhouse until selling it to current South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham in July of 2003. Hilleary served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 until 2003 after losing the 2002 Tennessee gubernatorial election to democrat Phil Bredesen. Hilleary ran a failed campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2006 and currently works in the public law policy strategies practice group with the law firm Sonnenschein Nath Rosenthal LLP.
