Giant in Cleveland Park close to breaking ground

Giant Food LLC is closer to breaking ground on a store that will replace its existing grocery in Cleveland Park with one designed to be more competitive.
The new Giant store takes up more than 56,000 square feet at 3336 Wisconsin Ave. NW in the Cathedral Commons mixed-use development. The property is planned for about 136,500 square feet of retail and 140 to 150 residential units.
This is wonderful news says Silvana Dias of WC AN Miller Realtors. The current giant is outdated and insufficient to serve the community needs and is underutilized. The community longs for a more expansive grocery store, shopping options, residential housing, and an enlivened streetscape.
