Edward Folliard was The Washington Post White House correspondent in 1961 when he owned this house. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1947. Folliard was former president of the White House Correspondents Association and covered Presidential Administrations from Coolidge to Johnson. In 1970 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nations highest civilian award.
