Author Riley Hughes owned this house in 1961. He was an associate professor at Providence College and Georgetown University during the 1940's. Hughes was the author of several books and a contributor to the Saturday Review. He was also a fiction critic for the Catholic World. Hughes review of J.D. Salinger's the Catcher in the Rye caused some schools to ban the book.
