Revolutionary War Gen. built this house

General Uriah Forrest built this farmhouse in 1793. He lost a leg in combat at the Battle of Germantown during the Revolutionary War. Forrest was a tobacco merchant and the first Mayor of the Town of George (Georgetown). He was a friend of President George Washington.
