Chemistry professor, lawyer get Roscoe Village 2BD

Medium 2f0e8e3f7185818e8d15bca822992694 Michael R. Marvel and his wife, Carlie, bought a two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 3318 N. Damen Ave. in Roscoe Village from James John for $357,500 on Sept. 4.

John acquired the property for $307,500 in March 2004. The 3,100-square-foot Unit #2 is one of three units in the development at 3318 N. Damen Ave., which was built in 2007.

Mr. Marvel works as an assistant professor of chemistry at Aurora University, where he specializes in inorganic and materials chemistry. Prior to this, he served as a teaching assistant at Northwestern University and was a high school teacher with East Aurora School District 131.

He earned his degree in chemistry from Connecticut College and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Northwestern University.

Mrs. Marvel is an associate at the Chicago-based law firm Roddy, Leahy, Guill & Zima Ltd. She concentrates her practice in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury and civil right litigation.

She graduated from the University of Illinois and earned her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 77 condo sales in Roscoe Village in 2008, with a median price of $370,000.
