Michael G. Norpell bought a two-bath, 2,230-square-foot home at 2926 Arlington Ave. in Highland Park from Laurence and Elizabeth Marks for $409,000 on Sept. 14.

The home was built in 1960 in the North of Half Day Road/Fort Sheridan neighborhood.

Norpell is the founder of M design LLC, a residential landscape design company based in Highland Park. He formed the company in 1999.

He holds a B.S. in biology and art history from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and a master's degree in landscape architecture from the Rhode Island of School of Design.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 300 home sales in Highland Park in 2008, with a median sales price of $495,000.
