Bestselling author acquires 5BD in Elmhurst

Medium 8c4c76d668a217c2c0937d584c6c5c0c Selamawi H. Asgedom and Erin Asgedom bought a five-bedroom, three-bath home at 183 S. Grace St. in Elmhurst for $500,000 from Elizabeth A. Schram and William T. Schram on April 20.

The Schrams paid $470,000 for the property in Aug. 1998.

The 2,935-square-foot house was built in 1947 in the Elmhurst Central neighborhood. It is located in the College View Terrace subdivision.

Selamawi Asgedom, who writes under the name Mawi Asgedom, is a native of Ethiopia who came to the United States as a refugee child in 1983.  Now a writer and public speaker, he is the author of  the bestselling Of Beetles and Angels: A Boy's Remarkable Journey from a Refugee Camp to Harvard and of  The Code: The 5 Secrets of Teen Success.

He holds a B.A. in American History from Harvard University.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 495 home sales in Elmhurst during the past 12 months, with median sales price of $332,000.
