Mr. Melges is the chief executive officer for Melges Performance Sailboats at Melges Boat Works Inc., a maker of fiberglass sailboats, ice boats and dinghies that was founded by his grandfather.

Mr. Melges is the son of Harry C. "Buddy" Melges, Jr., widely considered the greatest sport sailor in the world. Mr. Melges, Jr., represented the Chicago Yacht Club in his 1992 win of America's Cup.
