Software co. founding partner nets $1.5M on the Upper East Side

Medium 0af2d56c6e78a2e3bf9c6180e9a1da19 Woodward C. Hoffman and Marie Eve Chancel bought a condo at 114 E. 84th St. Unit #9A on the Upper East Side from Jean Claude Suares and Nina Duran Suares for $1.5 million on Nov. 10.

The condo is one of the 34 units in the nine-story condo development at 114 E. 84th St.

Hoffman is a founding partner of Principia, a New York-based provider of software solutions for the management of structured finance investments. He joined Principia as a deputy managing director at Republic National Bank. Prior to that, he was managing director at Mercadian Capital Inc.

Earlier on, he served as first vice president at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He also served as assistant vice president at A.G. Becker Paribas and at Warburg, Paribas, Becker.

He graduated from Denison University and went on to complete his master's and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics at Dartmouth College.

Mr. Suares is a designer of books, magazines, and newspapers.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 312 condo sales in Upper East Side during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $876,000.
