Thomas J. Trendl and Dr. Jennifer B. Kaplan bought a five-bedroom, four-bath home at 3103 Cathedral Ave. N.W. in Washington from Robert Edward Lee Hasty for $2.05 million on Sept. 15.

Hasty paid $2.15 million for the property in May 2006. The 4,138-square-foot home was built in 1925 in the Woodley Park neighborhood.

Trendl is a partner in the international trade practice at the Washington office of the law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP.

He received his B.A. from Illinois Wesleyan University, his J.D. from Southern Illinois University and his LL.M. in international and comparative law from the Georgetown University Law Center. He also studied international law at the London Law Centre of University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Kaplan is a pediatrician.

She has been affiliated with Children's Pediatricians & Associates and the George Washington University Hospital in D.C.

She received her M.D. from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed her residency in pediatrics at the Children's National Medical Center.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 4,143 sales in Washington in 2008, with a median sales price of $375,000.
