CESJ member, retired gerontologist drops Colonial Village

Medium 061e1f180736afe3332006d5e1cd2e56 Harriet M. Epstein and Lily M. Stone Management sold a four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home at 7928 Orchid St. N.W. in Washington to David H. Mitchell for $552,000 on Sept. 22.

The 1,568-square-foot house was built in 1937 in the Colonial Village neighborhood.

Ms. Epstein has been an active member of Center for Economic and Social Justice, where she also has been director since 2006.

She is a retired gerontology professional. From 1988 to 2001, she was the long-term care coordinator and assistant director of the Alexandria-Virginia Office of Aging and Adult Services.

She founded the Virginia Guardianship Association in 1991 and currently serves on the Virginia Public Guardian and Conservator Advisory Board and on the Board of the Institute for Palliative and Hospice Training Inc.

She received her B.A. in English from Tufts University in Medford, Mass., and her certification in gerontology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 4,155 home sales in Washington in 2008, with a median sales price of $375,000.
