Lawyer buys Columbia Heights condo

Medium 510e186b35e53de88528cab6890208ed Hawa Ghaus bought a two-bed, one-bath condo at 1461 Girard St. N.W. in Washington-Columbia Heights from 1461 Girard LLC for $435,000 on Nov. 12.

The condo, Unit #400, is part of the 9-unit luxury condominiums, The Chelsea. The condo development was acquired in 2009 and completed in May 2010.

Ghaus is legal counsel at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, D.C. Before joining the Embassy, she was the Frankel Fellow at Human Rights First in N.Y., co-editor-in-chief at UCLA Journal of Islamic and Neat Eastern Law, and president of the UCLA International Law Society.

She earned her law degree from the UCLA School of Law and a bachelor degree in political science and sociology from UCLA.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been four condo sales in Washington-Columbia Heights during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $440,392.
