Teacher, risk manager buys Culver City 3BD

Medium 2ef2e312478f9e3e69b560c15e3f1321 Jarod N. Kawasaki and Christine Y. Tomikawa bought a three-bedroom, one-bath home at 5432 Emporia Ave. in Culver City from Priyanee B. Perera for $585,000 on Oct. 28.

The Pereras paid $300,000 for the property Nov. 2000. The 1,176-square-foot home was built in 1951 in Sunkist Park.

Kawasaki is a doctoral student of psychological studies in education at the University of California-Los Angeles. He has worked as a lecturer at the Michael D. Eisner School of Education at the California State University-Northridge, a science teacher at the Grover Cleveland High School and a multimedia teacher at the Summer Academic and Enrichment program of the California State University-Northridge.

He was also a testing coordinator at the Grover Cleveland high school and a software developer.

He received his B.S. in applied health from the Azusa Pacific University and his M.A. in educational technology from the California State University.

Tomikawa has served as a risk manager at City of Manhattan Beach, where she began as a human resources technician. Prior to that, she was involved in human resources in the City of Arcadia

She received her bachelor of arts in communications from the University of Arizona.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 256 home sales in Culver City during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $505,000.
