The 1,682-square-foot house was built in 1976 in South Torrance.

Ms. Shiratori is a junior specialist and analyst at the University of Hawaii School of Social Work. Her research interest includes domestic violence in immigrant communities, world cultures and politics and peace and conflict.

She obtained a master's degree in social work from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 788 home sales in Torrance during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $570,000.
