Susan A. Ballagh and her husband, James, bought a five-bedroom, 3.5-bath home at 3855 Pacific Ave. in Long Beach from Dana Lipp for $1.15 million on Dec. 8.

Lipp paid $750,000 for the property in Oct. 1999. The 4,890-square-foot house in Los Cerritos was built in 1916.

Dr. Ballagh is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She is also the medical director of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Virginia. She previously was a visiting professor at the University of Hawaii.

She received her M.D. from the Drew/UCLA Medical Education Program in Los Angeles and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and contraception, at the University of Southern California.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 3,589 home sales in Long Beach during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $300,000.
