In the 12 years since Joe Kovac stepped into big “Santa” boots following the death of Wes Griffin, a much loved Davie Police Officer, Kovac has continued the tradition of bringing big smiles and good cheer to children in need at the 27th annual Davie Kiwanis Holiday Party.

“Riding his Harley, Santa Kovac and his antler-wearing reindeer, are escorted by the Florida Highway Patrol to the party,” said Cheryl Kovac, Santa’s wife and number one elf. “Seeing the joy on the faces of 150 super excited, jumping up and down children is simply wonderful.”

The Davie Kiwanis Holiday party for underprivileged children has delivered holiday cheer to more than 4,000 children and their parents. The families are treated to lunch cooked up by the Wings of Gold Motorcycle Club, sweet treats and gifts of a pre-decorated Christmas Trees or a Chanukah Bush plus a bicycle.

“Now through Dec. 14, Joe will continue working on his ‘ho, ho, ho’ while walking and working between the showroom, garage and speaking with customers,” Cheryl Kovac said. “He doesn’t want to disappoint these children.”
