Magazine designer sells DUMBO 2BD for $1.425M

Medium 9b531af031c50e19339747d3599314ab Geraldine Hessler and Jonathan C. Hall sold the two-bedroom, 2.5-bath Unit#7C at 30 Main Street in DUMBO to Wendy Lau for $1.425 million on June 12.

Ms. Hessler has been the design director for Entertainment Weekly magazine in Manhattan.

She began her career at Rolling Stone, where she worked as art director and then as design director. Her work has been included in ASME's list of the 40 Most Influential Magazine covers of the Last 40 Years.

She graduated from the Parsons School of Design.

Mr. Hall has been the managing editor at Mediaite.com, a media commentary and news aggregation web site.

Prior to that, he worked as a television producer at VH1 and MTV.

He graduated from the University of Kansas.

There are 87 units in the 11-story building at 30 Main St., which is also known as The Sweeney Building. It was constructed in 1910.

Sales at The Sweeney Building dropped 36.4 percent from 2007-2008. The median sales price, however, rose 15.8 percent during that same time period.

There were 115 condo sales in DUMBO/Vinegar Hill/Downtown Brooklyn/Boerum in 2008, with a median sales price of $492,000.
