James J. Ruggeroli and his wife, Paula, bought a four-bedroom, three bath at 8012 Shorecrest Drive in Las Vegas from HSBC Bank USA for $353,000 on July 2.

HSBC Bank foreclosed on the property in in January. Jimena Cortes paid $525,000 for it in 2007.

The 3,075 square foot house, which was built in 1993, is in the Lakeshore subdivision.

Rugerroli is a defense attorney with the law office of Steven B. Wolfson, Chartered in Las Vegas. He also serves as an instructor of criminal justice courses at the local campus of the University of Phoenix.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a government attorney for Clark County, where he defended hundreds of individuals and handled numerous preliminary hearings, misdemeanor trials, and evidentiary hearings.

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Rugerroli attended Bishop Gorman High School before going to Saint Louis University in Missouri, where he earned a degree in psychology in 1997 and a law degree in 2000.

Home sales in Las Vegas increased four percent in 2008 versus sales in 2007. The median sales price dropped from $275,000 to $230,000.
