Development company exec buys from former Harrah's marketing pro

Charles W. Van Geel and his wife, Kimberly, bought a four-bedroom, three bath home at 2050 Jupiter Hills Lane in Henderson from Aubyn E. Thomas for $574,000 on June 18.

Thomas bought the home for $775,000 in Aug. 2005. The 3,751-square-foot house, which was built in 1995, is in the Green Valley Ranch.

Mr. Van Geel is vice president for commercial leasing at the American Nevada Co., a real estate development company based in Henderson and a subsidiary of The Greenspun Company.

American Nevada Co.'s signature development is the Green Valley Ranch, the first mixed-use metropolitan lifestyle center to be developed in Nevada, which opened in 2004. Other projects include the Green Valley Corporate Center and Green Valley Corporate Center South in Henderson.

Thomas is senior vice president for marketing services at Macy's, Inc. in Cincinnati. She was appointed to this position in 2007.

Previously, she was vice president of brand strategy and acquisition marketing for Harrah's Entertainment in Las Vegas. Before working for Harrah's, she was senior vice president of brand strategy and enterprise marketing for Bank of America in Charlotte, N.C.

She holds two bachelor's degrees, one in mathematics from Spelman College and one in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech. She also earned her M.B.A. in marketing from Clark Atlanta University.

Home sales in Henderson are down 21 percent in 2008 versus sales in 2007. The median sales price has also fallen from $328,000 in 2007 to $279,000 so far this year.
