Douglas S. Massey sold a three-bedroom, four-bath home at 2523 Aspen St. in Fairmount from Devra C. Moehler and Wolfgang Moehler for $540,000 on June 29.

Massey paid $389,000 for the property in Aug. 2001. The 2,050-square-foot house was built in 1920.

Mr. Massey is a sociology professor at Princeton University and adjunct sociology professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

He previously was a sociology professor at the University of Chicago and associate sociology professor in the graduate group in demography at the University of Pennsylvania. He also was NSF postdoctoral fellow in the graduate group in demography at the University of California–Berkeley and worked at Princeton University as lecturer and research associate.

He holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Princeton University in New Jersey. He received his B.A. in sociology, psychology and Spanish at Western Washington University and his M.A. in sociology at Princeton University.

Ms. Moehler is an assistant professor of government at Cornell University.

She authored the book Distrusting Democrats: Outcomes of Participatory Constitution-Making in 2008.

She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan. She received her B.A. in development studies from the University of California–Berkeley and completed an education abroad program at The American University in Cairo, Egypt.

Mr. Moehler is an associate director at Cambridge Energy Research Associates Inc., an international research and consulting firm, where he is a member of the global liquefied natural gas research team. His expertise includes economic analyses and analysis of technologies.

He received an M.A. from Technische University in Muenchen, Germany, and from Vanderbilt University, where he was a university graduate fellow. He also attended the University of Michigan.

There were 280 home sales in the Fairmount in 2008, with a median sales price of $298,000.
