Mr. T's old house

This estate, named Two Gables, was designed by architects Harrie T. Lindeberg and David Adler and built in 1910 for investment banker Orville Babcock. The 16-room mansion was bought by the famous meat-packing Armour family in 1913. Mr. T (born Laurence Tureaud) bought the home during the height of his fame in 1986, after starring in Rocky III and starring in TV's "The A Team." He made national headlines in 1987 after he cut down 100 trees on the property - some that were sculpted into animals by renowned landscape architect Rose Standish Nichols - because the trees bothered his allergies. He lived in the home for 13 years. The property was purchased in 2003 by Rocco DeFilippis and Bruce Grieve of Legacy Preservation Partners for $3.85 million.
