President of the United States would visit his son at this house

Brigadier General James Roosevelt lived in this house in the 1930's. His father, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, would make Sunday visits to this house. Roosevelt worked as a secretary for his father before going on active duty as a captain in the United States Marine Corps in 1940. He was released from active duty in 1945 and retired with the rank of brigadier general. Roosevelt was a Congressman (California) representing his district from 1955 to 1965. He passed away in 1991.
