Smithsonian curator and member of the National Academy of Sciences owned this house

Zoologist, Arthur Remington Kellogg, owned this house when he passed away in 1969. He became curator of the Smithsonian Institution in 1941 and was named director in 1948. Kellogg was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1951 and retired from the Smithsonian in 1962. He devoted his remaining time to research and writing.
