Publicist, Gene Karst owned this house in 1967. In 1931 Karst was hired by Major League Baseball Hall of Fame member, Branch Rickey, to compose feature articles about St. Louis Cardinals players for "Cardinal News," a newsletter for fans of the team. His hiring led to the creation of the first press office in Major League Baseball history. Karst would later join the State Department during World War II and passed away in 2004.
