Rudolph Forster was executive secretary of the White House staff in 1913 when he owned this house. He was executive clerk in the White House from 1901 until he was appointed assistant secretary to President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903. Forster served in the White House from 1897 to 1943. He was awarded the Presidential Medal for Merit, one of the highest civilian deorations for the United States in 1945.
