Social Security head owned this house

William Mitchell was commissioner of the Social Security Administration in 1961 when he owned this house. He went to work for the U.S. Park Service in 1922 and subsequently joined the Social Security Board. In 1947 he was named SSA's deputy commissioner and was appointed Commissioner of Social Security in 1959. Mitchell retired in 1962.
