El Chico restaurant chain founder, Frank X. Cuellar, owned this house when he passed away in 1995. In 1940, Cuellar incorporated the family tamale stand and opened an El Chico restaurant in Dallas. The restaurant became very popular very quickly and more locations began to open throughout the southwest. Today, El Chico is one of the largest Mexican dinner house chains in the United States, operating more than 100 restaurants in the chain.
