Longtime editor of the "Progressive Farmer," Eugene Butler, owned this house when he passed away in 1995. Known by many as "Mr. Texas Agriculture," Butler moved to Dallas in 1922 and became editor of the "Progressive Farmer" Texas edition. Butler was a zealous advocate for more accessible rural health, water and soil conservation, and farm legislation. He retired from "Progressive Farmer" in 1983 after Time Inc. bought the magazine, but stayed active in editorial policy until his death.
