Open government advocate, Wanda Garner Cash, bought this house in 2001. She was publisher and editor of The Baytown Sun from 1999 until 2006 when she resigned after being named the first Fellow to the S. Griffin Singer Professorship at the University of Texas. In 2006, Cash was awarded the Jack Douglas Award for outstanding service to journalism.
