by BlockShopper Historian published Aug. 12, 2009
Famed American novelist Upton Sinclair lived in this home from 1942 to 1966. During that time he published 11 novels of the World's End series, which featured character Lanny Budd, the "red" son of an American arms manufacturer who was a socialite, an art expert and an acquaintance of Adolf Hitler. Sinclair, who's most famous work was 1906's The Jungle, converted the garage of this 1923 Spanish Colonial Revival style home into his study.
