Adobe Flores

This home, believed to be built around 1845, takes its name from Mexican Gen. Jose Flores, who during the Mexican-American War met at the property to surrender to U.S. Capt. John C. Fremont, who had been battling Flores near Los Angeles at Cahuenga Pass. The home was built by Manuel Garfias, a lieutenant colonel in the army of Mexico. Over the years the property has served a number of different purposes; at one point it had two confessional stalls for a priest. It was reportedly turned into a public tearoom after being purchased by Clara Eliot Noyes in 1919.
