Society photographer, Jerome Zerbe, lived in this building in 1967. His brash and at times candid photos of celebrities began appearing in national magazines beginning in the 1930s. Zerbe is considered to be the originator of the style of photography now identified with the paparazzi. He was a chief photographer's mate during World War II and recorded the allied victory in Japan. Zerbe was awarded a Bronze Star and was the personal photographer of Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. He passed away in 1988.
