The "haunted" Daniel Billmeyer House
by BlockShopper Historian published Aug. 12, 2009
Wealthy businessman Daniel Billmeyer built this house in 1793, and he reportedly rented rooms of the home out to families through the years. The home is also reportedly haunted , and in the late 1960s, former owner Manning Smith opened up the house to curious tourists and charged $10 for ghost hunts and tours. The home is currently one of six state landmarks on Germantown Avenue between Johnson and Sharpnack.
