Andrew Burke was the attorney for John Joseph Mitty, the Archbishop of San Francisco in 1961 when he owned this house. Burke was also a Knight of Malta. The Order of Malta is a nearly 1,000-year old Catholic order of the highest prestige. Its core principles are defense of faith and assistance to the poor and suffering.
