Real estate capitalist owned this house

William McRee was a retired capitalist in 1912 when he owned this house. He was a partner in the real estate firm Conn McRee for many years and since 1887 devoted his time to private interests. McRee was the first child born (1841) in the famed Planter's House Hotel. The hotel was considered the finest in the West at the time, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, U.S. Grant, Jefferson Davis and William "Buffalo Bill" Cody all signed the register.
