Namesake of Lambert International Airport owned this home
by BlockShopper Historian published Aug. 27, 2009
Albert Bond Lambert, an early aviator and president of Lambert Pharmacal Co., owned this home. Lambert once took flying lessons with Orville Wright. During his time in this residence, he purchased 550 acres of land in 1920 and developed it into an airport with hangers and a terminal. The airport would come to be known as Lambert Field in 1927, the first municipally owned airport in the United States.
