Military strategist, Herman Kahn, owned this house when he passed away in 1983. He was one of the most prominent advisors on global trends and plausible scenarios of the twentieth century. Kahn was a power at the RAND Corporation, a very influential research institution that advises and offers insight on matters of national security and public welfare. In 1961 he founded the Hudson Institute, where he conducted research on national security and the future. Kahn predicted the ascension of Japan as a world power and was respected for his advice concerning the survival of nuclear war.
