Ground broke at Winston Hills on Oct 26, 1963.The $40 million project by Winston-Muss Corp. promised 1,850 homes on 565 acres that were recently annexed to Woodridge, which was itself incorporated only four years earlier with a population of just 459.In 2009, Woodridge's population was 34,151.As part of the Winston Hills project, Winston-Muss-- then Chicagoland's largest home builder-- agreed to give the village 31 acres of land to build two schools and a 12.5 acre park as well as $25,000 for construction of the first Woodridge City Hall.The first homes in Winston Hills were offered in the $18,500 - $23,500 price range.
